In recorded use for over 4,000 years. The predominant uses for myrtle are anti-inflammatory, anti-parasitic and decongestant in nature, making it useful for diarrhea and conditions such as asthma, bronchitis, chronic coughs, tuberculosis and other lung afflictions. Also used for bladder and sinus infections, regulate thyroid function - particularly in low thyroid, decongestant of the prostate and respiratory system, chronic coughs, dyspepsia (impaired digestion), flatulence, hemorrhoids, insomnia, ovaries, skin conditions (acne, oils skin, ect.) sinusitis, and ureter infection. Myrtle is mild enough to be used on children for chest complaints and coughs. A powerful deodorizer. The aroma is said to be soothing when one is angry and has a stabilizing effect on the hormones. It supports immune function in fighting colds, flu, and infectious diseases.
